Your Challenge

Butterwick House Children's Hospice has proudly launched the Butterwick Schools Apprentice. The idea is very simple - we give your team £50 within an academic year and ask you to triple it or more, all in aid of a good cause.

The proceeds from the scheme will be donated to the Children's Hospice, allowing children to help other children from the local community. This is a challenge that all local schools and other children's groups can join.

The only requirements are that your team are enthusiastic and committed enough to bring energy and life to the scheme, and in doing so supporting the valuable work of the Hospice.

Team sizes can vary from a small set of friends to a whole class - it's that flexible. What your team does with the money is totally up to you - so long as it's ethical and legal, the choice is yours.

The scheme is a perfect opportunity for school children to learn about business, economics and entrepreneurialism. The children will develop key skills such as communication, team working and innovation in a real-life setting.

Miss Yates, from the King's Academy in Middlesbrough, said "The Butterwick Apprentice is an inspired scheme that links raising funds for the Hospice with learning and skills enrichment for local students, all the while raising awareness of the Butterwick House.  Our Sixth Form students are planning their chosen event at the moment and are excited at the prospect of meeting the challenge of tripling their £50... at least!"

What's more, the children will have a fantastic time taking the challenge and learning a great deal, while helping others and hopefully really enjoying themselves in the process.

Sadaf Dar, Year 12 Student, said "We're enjoying the challenge so far, we're planning our event at the moment, and we're also looking forward to raising as much money as possible for Butterwick Hospice".

The scheme is widely adaptable to the school curriculum, meaning you can deliver it during school classes.

The scheme can be run as an end-of-term activity, an afternoon club or during a certain timetabled lesson. The Butterwick fundraising team will be on hand to support participating teams as much as is necessary.
