First Schools Join Butterwick Schools Apprentice

27/9/2007

The Butterwick Schools Apprentice has attracted its first participating schools.

Teams from five schools from across the region are the first teams to sign-up and ‘trial' the challenge.

Miss Yates, from the King's Academy in Middlesbrough, said "The Butterwick Apprentice is an inspired scheme that links raising funds for the Hospice with learning and skills enrichment for local students, all the while raising awareness of the Butterwick House.  Our Sixth Form students are planning their chosen event at the moment and are excited at the prospect of meeting the challenge of tripling their £50... at least!"

AVF Marketing, an award-winning marketing consultancy based in North Yorkshire, has kindly provided the initials funds to kick-start the projects with the first schools.

One team from Whinny Banks Junior School, named the Butterfingers Business Group, are selling tea and toast to their class mates during break time, while the sixth formers at the King's Academy in Middlesbrough are preparing a number of profit-making schemes at their summer fayre.

Sadaf Dar, Year 12 Student, said "We're enjoying the challenge so far, we're planning our event at the moment, and we're also looking forward to raising as much money as possible for Butterwick Hospice".

Damon Millar, fundraising with the Butterwick House, said "I would like to thank the first five schools for joining the scheme and helping with the launch. I wish them all the very best of luck in their activities and looking forward to see the results."

We will keep you updated on this website with the results of the school's events and activities.
